I am a photo fanatic, my walls are covered with photos of my kids, grandkids and my animals. So much so that I have no space left on my walls for pictures. So when I found these 2 tabletop DIY Photo Luminaries I got really excited. Both of these craft projects use the same technique to prepare the photos, only one has framed photos made into a cube and the other simply affixes the photos to the outside of a jar.
We will cover the framed photo cube project first. This would make beautiful gifts for the holidays or anytime of year. You can change the photos anytime which comes in handy at holiday time when you want to display holiday themed photos. I love this design and can’t wait to make a few of these!
1. Framed Photo Cube Luminary
What you will need:
- (4) 5 x 7 frames (I found mine at my local Dollar Tree)
- Gorilla Glue or other strong adhesive
- 2 sheets of 8.5 x 11 Vellum (get pure Vellum for best results)
- Home printer
- Family photos
- Square mirror (I also found these at my local Dollar Tree)
- Tea Light Candles
Print your photos directly onto the vellum and trim them to size. Place your printed vellum photo into the frame… ON TOP of the GLASS! So it goes frame, vellum photo and then glass on the back. I did this so that when you place the candles inside you don’t risk lighting your house on fire! Once in your frames, glue them together into a cube. Put the cube frame over the square mirror. This will help reflect the light from your votive. Then place the votive inside and light!
