Wait! WHAT? They Made These Ornaments With THAT?

crayon ornaments

My friends and I make our own ornaments for our christmas trees each year and each year I always find one that remains a favorite. This tutorial for making DIY Crayon Ornaments is one of them. They are so easy to make and are really beautiful. Each one is unique and different from the rest.

This is a great kid friendly craft project that will light up their little faces when they see their own DIY crayon ornaments hanging from the christmas tree. These also look great hanging from light fixtures or anywhere light will shine through them. You will need to do the heating part because the ornaments get too hot for little hands.

What you will need:

  • 1 package of Crayola crayons – Crayola melt the best!
  • sharp craft knife
  • 1 package of clear GLASS craft ornaments
  • hair dryer
  • oven mit

Instructions:

Remove the paper from your crayons and cut each one into 6 small pieces. Remove the tip from your ornament and put 3-4 crayon pieces inside and put the tip back on the ornament. Mix colors for a rainbow effect. Put on an oven mit and holding the ornament in your hand begin melting the crayons with a blow drying on high. Once they begin to melt swirl the ornament so the crayons will create swirls on the inside of the ornament. Don’t melt them completely, once satisfied with the effect, take the tip off, hold the ornament upside down over a paper plate and heat again just enough for the excess pieces of crayon to fall out. Replace the tip and your done!

  1. I tried this with the blow dryer. I found it took a long time. So I started thinking I used a pencil sharper got the shavings put each on in a plastic contains I then got a shallow pan filled half way with water brought it to a boil turn down to simmer put containers in melt quick I poured one color at a time the harden quick when I got all my colors in I held the bulb in the water turning. The effect is awesome . Doing it this way it takes 10 mins instead of 25 + try it you will see how many more you can make in a shorter amount of time. I love them. Doing a bunch for a craft fair that’s way I had to cut time off
