I love the soft cozy feeling of felted items and these DIY Felted Owls from ‘BGH’ are no exception. These would make ideal gifts for children and even adults love handmade felted items for their home decor.
Felting is a craft utilizing wool and a felting needle to intertwine different color pieces and shapes onto the item you’re working on. The material list below is enough for one owl. The colors you choose are optional for your decor. If you’ve never felted before, give it a try, it’s easy, and soon you’ll soon be felting like a pro!
What you will need:
- Wool roving: white, brown, tan, black, and colors of choice for eyes and belly (such as teal, orange, and/or green)
- Felting needle
The 3 items below are optional and only needed if you’re going to hang your owl.
- Jump ring (optional)
- Brown sewing thread (optional)
- Black cord (optional)
Editor’s Tip: The amount of wool roving you use depends on how big you want your owls to be. For a large owl, make approximately a 5-inch-wide body; for a small owl, make about a 2-inch-wide body.
