Welcome to PAGE TWO of the Adorable Mitten Dolls Tutorial. These super cute dolls are really easy to make and don’t require any sewing unless you choose to sew the little hats. You can also use this same technique to make snowmen, though you would need and larger gloves to have room for all 3 layers of the snowman.
Now that you have your material list handy, it is time to learn how to make these little christmas dolls for your home or people on your gift list.
Instructions:
- FIll the bottom of the mitten with rice.
- Use a rubber band to tie off at the neck
- Insert a piece of chopstick or skewer into the foam ball and insert it down into the body till it is flush with the neck.
- Draw a face using the sharpie and rosey the cheeks with a bit of blush using a q-tip
- Glue on 2-3 buttons on the front
- Add a small hat to the head
- Add your embellishments to the arm of the snowman.
As mentioned above, you can make 3 layer snowmen shapes by using the rubber bands lower on the body, adding more rice and banding again to create the look you see below.

I just wondered what goes in the arm so it isn’t flopping around? They are adorable. My grand kid would like to make these
The arms have rice in them and the ends glued or sewn shut. The arms that hang down to hold the twigs and other things needs to also be glued to the side of the snowman to firm it for holding the embellishments. After you make them, I would LOVE if you would post pictures on my facebook page 🙂 Happy Holidays!
Hi…Can you tell me what size for the head and how you made the little hats especially the tan and red ones, They are adorable!
Hi Cyndi, the red and tan hats are the easiest.. that is the elastic part of the glove, rolled down and either pinned or glued down. The little head goes inside the makes it look like a hat. The heads are 1-2 inch balls depending on whether you used a child size glove or an adults. 🙂
