Tutorial Shows The Secret To Making Your Holiday Table Shine In Under 10 Minutes!

Welcome To PAGE TWO of the Holiday Mason Jar Luminaries Tutorial

There are 2 types of epsom salt, a fine powder or granulated crystals that each give a different effect. I personally like way the light from the candle is illuminated thru the crystals.

You can also make your own Mod Podge glue with this 2 ingredient recipe: Homemade Mod Podge.

One last tip.. I like to finish my jars with a sealer or extra layer of mod podge which keeps the salts and snow from flaking off on your table.

masonjar5What you will need:

  • mason jars
  • epsom salt crystals or faux snow
  • decoupage glue or mod podge
  • paint brush
  • twine
  • embellishments like berries, faux flowers etc.

masonjar4Instructions:

For a snowy effect on the outside of the jar:

  • put your hand inside the jar to hold it and apply your glue with your paintbrush to cover the jar.
  • roll or sprinkle your jar in either the epsom or faux snow making sure to cover thoroughly.
  • once dry, if you want a thicker coating, apply a 2nd coat of glue and salt or now and allow to dry.
  • Add your twine to the neck of the jar, glue on your embellishments and add a votive candle inside.

For a snowy effect inside the jar:

  • Add as much snow to the inside of the jar as you like, I typically fill 1/4 of the jar.
  • Add a votive or tea light in the center.
  • You can add greenery or other little embellishments around the candle to decorate
  • add twine and other embellishments to the neck of the jar.

That’s all there is to it to create beautiful Holiday Mason Jar Luminaries. These look beautiful on a thanksgiving dinner table that will compliment your decor.
