I Was SHOCKED How EASY These Are To Make! All you Need Is Mod Podge, String & THIS!

Welcome to PAGE TWO of How To Make A Mod Podge String Luminaries Tutorial.

The idea with this holiday craft project is to use a blown up balloon, paint it with mod podge and wrap string around it and allow it to dry in order to make these little cradles that you then fill with embellishments like little trees, cottages or even a sleeping Jesus like you saw in the image on the last page. Once the balloon is popped. A hole is then cut into the stiff string which creates the cradle and you fill it and decorate it any way you choose with garland, bows, or even put it inside a pedestal like the one in the image below.

You will need:

  • Mod Podge or other glue
  • white or tan string
  • balloons (the larger the balloon the larger your string luminary can be
  • string lights
  • embellishments
  • paint brush

Blow up your balloon and paint half with your glue, then begin wrapping the string round and round and applying more glue on top. More is better in this case as you want the string to dry as stiff as possible.

Once dry.. pop the balloon and carefully remove it. Then decide where you want the opening and carefully cut out a window. Now just fill it with your embellishments and decorate around it and you’re done!

    • If the glue you’re using is not holding the string, I would try different glue. Most should hold it but sometimes you need something stronger.
