There is a secret to making Simple DIY String Art craft projects that requires no pounding, no hammers, and no loud banging. I learned this secret from Kathleen George’s tutorial at ‘Crafts N Coffee’. She shares a brilliant way for making string art the easy way.
Instead of using a wood board which is how most people makes their string art which requires a hammer, nails, a lot of noise, and the dreaded smashed fingers, the secret she recommends is using a Styrofoam brand board for the base instead! String Art just got a whole lot easier!!
Materials you will need:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam: 10” x 10” x 1” sheet
- Red fabric, 13” square
- Brass escutcheon pins or small nails with heads, 1” long, about 130
- Crochet thread in white
- Thick, white craft glue or paste
Tools needed:
- scissors
- 1” spackling knife
- craft pins
- large needle, such as a crewel or carpet needle
- ruler
- optional: rubber brayer or rolling pin
