Staining Glass Has Never Been SO EASY! Find Out How!

There are many creative ways to decorate glass jars and candle holders, with this Stained Glass Jars technique from ‘First Palette’, you can make pencil holders or vases for flowers or even decorate your favorite glass tumblers.  This craft project involves outlining your designs first using liquid leading then paining in the inner areas with transparent glass paint which gives it the stained glass look.
Being it is holiday time, you could consider painting Halloween decorations on your glass and Christmas themed glass for your holiday home decor. You can also make some to give as gifts to your family and friends. Whatever you choose, you can make some beautiful things with this technique.


What you will need:

  • Glass or plastic (PET) jars
  • Glass outliner or simulated liquid leading (homemade version: white glue, acrylic paint)
  • Transparent glass paint or glass stain (homemade version: clear liquid glue/white glue, food coloring, liquid dishwash soap)
  • Paint brush
  • Palette
  • Washable marker or whiteboard marker (optional)
  • Cotton swabs (optional)
