Translucent DIY Colored Mason Jars


Mason Jars are a staple craft item for DIYers due to the fact that there are literally hundreds if not thousands of Craft Projects that can be made with them. Most Mason Jar crafts I have seen utilize decoupage to decorate or color them, but today, thanks to a wonderful tutorial I found at Fancy Shanty you will learn how to make these beautiful translucent DIY Colored Mason Jars that look like colored glass you would purchase at a store!

These make wonderful gifts filled with candies or other trinkets. These are even beautiful enough to use for color coordinated table settings for wedding or holiday tables filled with flowers.

Whatever you use them for, your friends and family will ask you where you found colored mason jars and you will be able to proudly say you made them yourself!

Everything you need to recreate these translucent DIY colored mason jars is below, and they are very easy to make 🙂

What you will need:

  • Pint Mason Jars
  • Mod Podge Gloss
  • Water
  • Liquid Food Coloring
  • Plastic Spoons and Knives (or Popsicle Sticks)
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Measuring Spoon (tbsp)
  • Oven (Pre-heated to 225 degrees)
  • Something to protect your workspace (Newspaper, Paper Bags, Cardboard)

      • After 1 hour, carefully lift the jars and gently wipe any Mod Podge from the outside rim of the jar (if there is any). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place the mason jars right side up on the lined cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet and jars into a preheated over for 1 hour until the Mod Podge is completely dry and the glass is transparent. Remove the jars from the oven and set aside to cool. Once cool, sit back and admire your new gorgeous DIY Color Mason Jars! 🙂
