Sea Glass is one of my all time favorite types of crystal to use in my craft projects. It’s frosted texture and soft ocean like colors are simply irresistible to me! I love the ocean and find it fascinating that the ocean can create such beautiful pieces of art that are completely natural and loved by so many people.
In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to make a dazzling DIY Sea Glass Bowl. These are super easy to make, though you must allow a LOT of time for it to dry completely. The larger the bowl the longer it will take to dry and harden to hold its shape.
What you will need:
- Small Sea Glass any color
- Saran Wrap
- Waterproof Glue or Outdoor Mod Podge
- Glass or Ceramic Bowl
- Foam Brush
- Dremel
The size of the bowl you use to make this will determine the size of your completed Sea Glass Bowl.

I was really wondering if i could buy sea glass through a web site or at a craft store i live in the Desert and i just love the look of sea glass. Thank you so very much.Gina Wolter
Hi Gina, yes, you can buy sea glass at craft stores and even at amazon right online 🙂
What kind of glue do you use to get the sea glass to stick securely the styrofoam?
Any kind of waterproof glue or mod podge
Hi, Thanks for the great idea and instructions. I have been looking for new crafts for sea glass and this is perfect.
Have you worked with resin? I have not but want to try it for something else. Do you think it would help the sturdiness of the bowl if
you painted the inside of the completed bowl with resin?
I have not worked with resin yet either, but if it hardens then I would think it would reinforce the strength of the bowl. Mind you that is just an educated guess as I am not familiar with the product 🙂 Happy Crafting!
Thanks for this tutorial. I also tried the youtube video but the person doing it was too irritating. I take it that eventually the glue sets solid creating a strong bowl? I asked in the craft store but they didn’t know.
Yes, you are correct! When everything dries the bowl will be hard. 🙂
