Welcome to PAGE TWO of the DIY Pom Pom Rug Tutorial!
Now that you know how to make your pom poms, you are ready to learn how to use them to make your rug. You can use 2 different methods, the first being the best most secure way to make them by tying each pom pom to the rug backing. The second method involves simply gluing the pom poms to the backing which I suppose would work fine if the rug is more for show than to actually walk on or have a child play on. We will be covering the first method in this tutorial because it will last longer and be much more functional than the glue method.
What you will need:
- Pom Poms (in your choice of colors)
- Non Skid Rug Pad (something like this one at Amazon – Rug Pad)
- Scissors
Instructions for assembling the rug:
Layout your pom poms in the color design you want beforehand. Then using the excess yarn hanging down from each of your pom poms, feed the yarn from your first pom pom and your 2nd pom pom through the holes in the rug pad and knot tie them together securely. Repeat this process with the other pom poms. Placing the pom poms close together will make your rug nice and compact.

When your finished cut any loose dangling yarn and your rug is complete!
