[Video] Illuminated DIY Mood Lamp Tutorial

Welcome to PAGE TWO of the DIY Mood Lamp Tutorial!

Below you will find instructions for making your own Mood Lamp and on page three you will find a video tutorial to watch the process being done step by step.

Instructions:

  1. Place your bowl upside down with the opening on the bottom.
  2. Using the tack strips, make tiny balls to use to position your pebbles in place to design your bowl as shown below.  You can opt to simply glue them into place first, but this method helps you position the pebbles first making sure you like the design before gluing them on.mood2
  3. Repeat this process until the bowl is completely covered with pebbles.diy mood lamp
  4. Begin the process of removing one pebble at a time, remove the tack strip ball and add a dollop of glue from your hot glue gun to each pebble and placing it on the bowl in the same position it was in. Continue this process until all pebbles have been glued in place.
  5. Once all the pebbles have been glued into position it is time to add the white modeling clay. Take small chunks of clay and mash them between the pebbles using your fingers to smooth it out. You can wet your fingers to help make it easier to smooth the clay. I would personally use a wet q-tip to make a cleaner look around each pebble than it is in the photos below. Continue this process until the entire bowl is covered. When you get to the opening, be sure to mold the clay around the rim and leave a divot for the light cord to go through so the lamp can sit flat once the light is in place. Once complete leave it sit overnight to allow for the clay to dry.mood4

  6. Now it is time to illuminate your Mood Lamp. You can use any kind of lighting you desire from blue lights to color changing led lights (like christmas tree lights). The choice is yours. In the example below, a blue light was used. [Notice the divot in the clay where the cord will come out]diy mood lamp
