Easy DIY Macrame Hammock Chair Tutorial

Welcome to PAGE TWO of the Easy DIY Macrame Hammock Chair Tutorial.

I love swinging on my patio in a hammock and enjoying the outdoors and this is a very comfy hammock chair to do that with. I have seen similar chairs in retail stores and these sell for crazy high prices. Now you can make your own for your home and even make them for friends and family because these make awesome gifts that the receiver will love!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1

Measure the Dowels: On two of the 1 1/4-inch dowels, measure and mark at 2 inches and 3 1/2 inches from each end.
The third 1 1/4-inch dowel will only need to be marked at 3 1/2 inches from each end.

Step 2

Drill hole in the dowels:  Drill a 1/4-inch hole on each of the 3 1/2-inch marks and a 5/8-inch hole on each of the 2-inch marks.

Step 3

Sand the holes you just drilled

Step 4

Slide the dowels together to form the square frame for the seat. Leave about 1-inch overlap on each end. Using a 1-inch screw, secure the two pieces together.

Step 5

Before starting the macrame, temporarily hang the frame in a place where you can easily stand or sit to knot the ropes.

Step 6

Using the 1/4-inch cord, cut 16 26-foot pieces. Pick up one cord and fold it in half. Wrap the loop around the dowel from the front to back. Pull the tails through the loop. Continue with all 16 strands of cord. Once they’re all hanging, you’ll have 32 strands.

Step 7

Cross the cords from left to right: To create the seat, you’ll be using a simple square knot. Starting with the first four cords, take the left cord and cross it over the center two, then under the right cord…
